Admit it, Halloween is a bit quiet this year. Yet country icon George Strait still celebrated the spooky holiday with a throwback “hats-off” themed concert photo on Instagram.

“Hats Off to Halloween,” Strait wrote to his 965,000 followers. The undated photo showed Strait performing in concert. As per usual, the King of Country was wearing his trademark hat like a crown.

So what’s different about the picture? All the fans who were lucky enough to sit near the stage were offering their hats to Strait. See, hats off.

Earlier this month, Strait won honors for “Top Country Tour” at the Billboard Music Awards. His shows grossed $71 million in 2019. Eric Church and Florida Georgia Line also were nominated.

This time a year ago, AXS Studios commissioned a Strait pumpkin carving to honor the singer’s Las Vegas concert residency. The studio hired artist Jon Neill to carve Strait’s face and hat into a Halloween pumpkin.

Earlier this week, Strait posted a throwback photo to show his support for the Dallas Cowboys. The one-time honorary captain for the Cowboys was cheering for a Dallas win over Washington, the team’s long-time rivals. (The Cowboys lost, 25-3).

However, AT&T Stadium, home of the Cowboys, was a happy spot back in 2014, when Strait delighted a concert crowd of 104,793. It was recognized as the largest crowd ever to see an indoor concert in North America.
