Legendary country singer George Strait just gets better with age. The King of country music recently posted a clip showing his followers just how effortlessly cool he is, even at 69-years-old.
In the clip, a much younger Strait performs his classic hit, “Right or Wrong,” which he released as a cover in 1983. “Right or Wrong,” coming to you #StraitFromTheStage with the Original Texas Playboys,” he wrote in the tweet.
In the replies, some of his die-hard fans expressed their excitement. One user wrote directly to Strait: “Thankful for you. For your lesson on how to interact personally, very thoughtful.” Someone else shared a similar sentiment: “Thank you great way to start the day!”
“Right or Wrong” comes from George Strait’s 1983 album of the same name. The song initially acted as a jazz ballad from 1921, composed by Arthur Sizemore and Paul Biese, with words by Haven Gillespie. As for Strait, he covered the Emmett Miller and Bob Wills version.
The lyrics tell the story of lost love:

George Strait’s Right or Wrong
Strait laid down the tune himself on April 28, 1984, when he recorded the song for his best-selling album. The single from that album reached the No. 1 spot and stayed on the charts for 12 weeks. The success of Strait’s rendition even led to the songwriter, Haven Gillespie, receiving an ASCAP award in 1985 for her work on the song.
Right or Wrong, George Strait’s third studio album, topped Billboard‘s Top Country albums chart. It later peaked at No. 163 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Besides “Right or Wrong,” the album also produced the singles “You Look So Good in Love” (which was Strait’s first song to feature a music video) and “Let’s Fall to Pieces Together.” Both of them topped the “Hot Country Singles” chart.
Additionally, Strait also included two cover songs on the album (besides “Right or Wrong”). He included a rendition of the Hank Williams song “I’m Satisfied with You” as well as the Merle Haggard song, “Our Paths May Never Cross.”
Decades after the album’s release, George Strait is still dominating the country music industry. Recently, tickets to his 2022 concert-only Rodeo performance sold out in less than 10 minutes.
According to reports, at 10 a.m., 53,000 people were in the online waiting room. Standard tickets sold out within 10 minutes, Brittany Rader, senior manager of Media Relations and Communications, said at the time.
