George Strait Tells Fans ‘Don’t Forget to Smile’ Today with Classic Throwback Pic

by Quentin Blount

Over the years, country music legend George Strait has left a smile on the face of many of his fans. And on Friday, he took to social media to remind them to keep on smiling.

The King of Country music is no stranger to engaging with his fans and followers on social media. He has official accounts on all the main platforms including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Strait utilized all three of those accounts — of which he has nearly 10 million combined followers — to inspire his fans to approach today with a smile.

The country music icon posted a classic throwback photo of him with a cowboy hat on and a big smile.

“Don’t forget to smile today.🤠” Strait wrote alongside his picture.

It goes without saying that country music fans on Twitter were loving Strait’s latest post. One user, Paula W (@WassUpEH) left a message saying, “How can we not smile lookin’ at that sweet face eh 😉🤠🤙 #HappyGoodFriday to you & your family George.”

Another fan commented calling George Strait’s smile “the greatest ever.”

“The greatest smile 😃 to ever to be admired and the greatest Country singer of all time ❤️🇨🇦”

And it is obviously important to George Strait to make sure his fans are smiling. Just last September, he posted a similar “Don’t forget to smile today” message on his social media accounts.

George Strait Asks Fans to Name Grammy-Winning Album

Speaking of George Strait fans smiling, many of them were doing so yesterday after they correctly guessed which of his award-winning albums were released on April 1, 2008.

“This Grammy Award-winning album was released on this day in 2008,” Strait posed to his followers on Twitter. “What album is it?”

The answer to that question, of course, would be his 2008 album, Troubadour. There were several George Strait fans in his replies that knew the answer right away.

And even though Strait has produced some of the most memorable music in all of country music, perhaps one of his best albums came in the form of Troubadour. The lead single on the record, “I Saw God Today,” is still the highest-debuting single of Strait’s career.

Meanwhile, the album was certified platinum by the RIAA. And in addition, Strait also earned a Grammy Award for Best Country Album at the 51st Grammy Awards ceremony. That is the only Grammy win of his legendary career despite receiving multiple nominations.
