On Tuesday, country icon George Strait referenced the popular Christmas tradition of “Elf on the Shelf” with a new cowboy-inspired twist.

Strait’s official Instagram account posted a black and white photo of the country singer with one distinct addition. A miniature George Jones is amusingly seen standing on top of Strait’s left shoulder. Another black and white photo of the other country icon named George was edited and scaled down to size like an “Elf on the Shelf.”

After placing the mini George on Strait’s shoulder, the account hilariously asked “have you heard of George on George?”

“You’ve heard of #ElfOnTheShelf, but have you heard of #GeorgeOnGeorge?! 🤠 🎅 #GeorgeJones,” Strait’s account wrote on the post.

George Strait Had ‘The Best Day’ Over the Weekend

Over the weekend, Strait went full-on cowboy for a brand new picture posted on the country singer’s official Twitter account.

The legendary musician shared the photo of himself lounging against a large tree. Strait donned a pair of jeans and a blue button-down collared shirt. In addition, he made sure to round out the cowboy look with two important accessories: a large belt buckle and signature black cowboy hat.

He seemed to be in good spirits on Saturday. Strait posted lyrics from one of his dozens of No. 1 country singles. He borrowed the lyrics from his early 2000 song “The Best Day” for his post.

“‘I’m the luckiest man alive. This is the best day of my life.’ #TheBestDay,” Strait captioned the Twitter photo.

“The Best Day” released as the first single off of one of his greatest hits albums. Strait’s Latest Greatest Straitest Hits compilation came out back in January 2000. The song spent 29 weeks on Billboard‘s country singles chart. Additionally, the single reached No. 1, which made “The Best Day” Strait’s 36th Billboard No. 1 country hit.

According to Strait’s official website, Latest Greatest Straitest Hits received a unique honor. In fact, we can assume the honorary gesture may be one-of-a-kind.

“You may even call George a space cowboy. Col. Paul Lockhart, a pilot of the space shuttle Endeavor making his first space flight, took an autographed copy of the CD and a belt buckle of George’s with him into space,” the website recalls.
