There’s something special about handing a family tradition down from father to son. It just feels good to see your son follow in your footsteps. That feeling is probably amplified tenfold seeing your grandson falling in line as well. One man who knows all about that is George Strait.
Earlier today, George Strait posted the best possible Father’s Day photo. It shows him and his son as well as his grandson on horseback. They’re all decked out in matching western shirts and black cowboy hats. All three cowboys have Texas-sized smiles on their faces. However, you can almost feel the pride radiating off of King George as he rides beside his son and grandson.
George Strait kept the caption of the post very simple. He simply said, “Happy Father’s Day, everyone!” and left it at that. He let the photo speak for itself. Check it out below.
George Strait Won Father’s Day 31 Years Ago
George Strait definitely won Father’s Day today. However, he has been the gold buckle winner of the holiday for over three decades now. I’m sure you’re wondering how he did that. Well, I’ll tell you. Back in April of 1990, Strait released the lead single from his album Livin’ It Up. That single was “Love Without End, Amen.” That song spent five weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. It gave Strait his first multi-week chart-topper and his eighteenth overall.
If you need a refresher, “Love Without End, Amen,” is probably the best song about being a father ever recorded. The Aaron Barker-penned track embodies what it means to be a father. However, George Strait sings it like he lived it. I guess all fathers have to some extent.
The song contains three different stories of fatherhood. It starts with the narrator as a child. Then, it transitions into him as a father. Finally, the song equates the love that God has for his children to that of an earthly father to his child.
However, George Strait brings it all together with the chorus. At the same time, it’s likely to dampen the eyes of just about any man who really listens to it. Or, the song inexplicably stirs up clouds of dust and pollen that make the eyes water. That’s probably closer to the truth. Right?

It’s safe to assume that both of the men in that photo have passed that little secret along once or twice.
