Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber took home the Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “10,000 Hours.”

The Big Grammy Win For Dan + Shay

“10,000 Hours” by Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber took the Grammy win. This is the country duo’s only nomination this year while Bieber is nominated in three pop categories. The trio won Favorite Country Song at the 2020 American Music Awards.

The country duo accepted their Grammy award virtually via Zoom. The pair couldn’t quit smiling. “Oh my God! No way,” they exclaimed. “As you can tell we are very excited. We have no speech prepared,” Dan Smyers shared. “Our family is in there and very happy. I love you guys,” he motioned to the room next door.

“I always get so nervous at these things,” he continued. “It truly means the world. Y’all have changed our lives in more ways than you know.”

Finally, Shay Mooney wanted to thank his family before being overcome with excitement. “My hands are shaking right now. This is absolutely crazy,” he said.

Other Nominees

Firstly, the Brothers Osborne were up for their seventh Grammy award for “All Night.” Their first Grammy nomination was in 2015 for “Stay A Little Longer” in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category.

Secondly, Lady A is up for “Ocean” this year. The trio has a total of eleven nominations and five Grammy wins. Their first nominations were back in 2008 for Best New Artist and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Love Don’t Live Here.” Their first win was in the same category the next year for “I Run To You.”

Thirdly, Little Big Town‘s “Sugar Coat” was also considered in this category. Additionally, the quartet has been nominated fifteen times and won three Grammy awards. Their first nominations were back in 2006 for Best Country Album for The Road To Here and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Boondocks.” Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook took home their first win in 2012 in the same category for “Pontoon.”

Finally, “Some People Do” by Old Dominion was Grammy-nominated. It was also up for Best Country Song which is also given to the songwriters. Jesse Frasure, Shane McAnally, Matthew Ramsey, and Thomas Rhett co-wrote the tune.
