Awards Season will move forward even though the ongoing pandemic continues. The nominations for the 63rd annual Grammy Awards were released Tuesday. The awards show is set to air on Jan 31 on CBS.
Female Country Artists Set to Command the Grammys
In the country music realm, women dominate the nominations. Miranda Lambert leads with three nominations in the country category. In addition, Country newcomer Ingrid Andress is the only country artist nominated in the all-genre category. She earned herself the nomination for “Best New Artist” in addition to nominations in the country categories. Andress and Lambert will go head-to-head for the title of this year’s most-nominated country act. Another country singer, Brandy Clark, has also received a nomination.
The awards show also nominated female country artist, Mickey Guyton, making this her first Grammy nomination. Grammy Awards veteran Taylor Swift will also be attending as a nominee. Specifically, her Folklore album is in the running for several ‘pop’ and ‘all-genre’ categories. Tanya Tucker was country music’s biggest winner at the 2020 Grammys, winning both “Best Country Album” and “Best Country Song.”
The late John Prine also received two nominations in the “American Roots” categories.
Furthermore, The Daily Show host, Trevor Noah, will host the event. Scheduled performances and presenters are expected to be announced later on.
