Happy Birthday Craig Morgan: Celebrating the ‘That’s What I Love About Sunday’ Singer

Craig Morgan found his way onto the country music scene a little later in life than the average performer. Born July 17, 1964, the country music artist didn’t begin his musical career until the year 2000. While fans adore the Tenessee crooner, we are all okay with him taking that long to bring his music to our ears. Because prior to that, the country singer was busy being an American Hero.

At the age of 18, Morgan decided to become an EMT. Morgan also served on active duty for the US Army for nearly a decade. He then remained in the reserves for nearly seven years afterward.

In 2000, Craig Morgan’s first album, a self-titled debut record, was released under the Atlantic Records label. In 2002, the country music singer switched labels and joined Broke Arrow Records. Shortly after, Morgan released the Album “I Love It.” This was followed by 2005’s “My Kind of Livin’,” and the 2006 album, “Little Bit of Life.”

What Craig Morgan Loves About Sunday

One of Craig Morgan’s biggest hits was “That’s What I Love About Sunday.” The 2004 single from the album, “My Kind of Livin’” spent four weeks on the top of the Billboard U.S. Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. The song was such a hit that Billboard eventually declared the hit single to be the number-one song of 2005.

The hit song found amazing moments within the simple pieces of life. Since the single found its way to number one 16 years ago, “That’s What I Love About Sunday” continues to be a country music fan-favorite.

“My Kind of Livin’” eventually went gold. Other popular songs included on the album included the hit song “Redncek Yacht Club.” This popular song shot to number two on the Billboard Country Chart. It nearly found itself sitting amongst the top 40. The song topped out at number 45.

Craig Morgan’s 2006 release “Little BIt of Life” found similar success. “International Harvester” landed a spot at number 10. This Album was Morgan’s second to becoming a certified Gold album.

The Country Star is More Than Just a Singer

Craig Morgan and his wife, Karen have five children. In February of 2011, the American Hero put his EMT training to work as he risked his life to save two young children from a fire in Dickson, Tennessee. Morgan heroically manned a hose to help extinguish the flames.

In 2016, tragedy struck the Morgan household when their son, Jerry went missing while tubing in Kentucky Lake along the Tennessee River. The nineteen-year-old’s body was recovered shortly after.

Since the devastating loss, Morgan released powerful ballad dedicated to Jerry. The single, entitled “The Father, My Son, and the Holy Ghost” is a song of love, faith and loss. The song received massive social media support and quickly climbed to number 25 on the Billboard Country music chart.
