Most Heartwarming, Unifying Country Music Moments of 2020 as We Look Back on the Year

by Kayla Zadel

We laughed, we cried and we stayed home during this trying year. And country music stars are just like us in the sense that we all went through 2020 together, but apart.

Some, like Kane Brown and Miranda Lambert, took the time to stay home and spend time with their families that normally wouldn’t happen since they’re on the road touring. Others, like Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen, found this an inspirational time to write and make music.

This year also brought us together in various regards and then there’s Dolly Parton, but we’ll get to that.

Here are some heartfelt moments in country music to prove that 2020 was a complete and utter dumpster fire.

Billy Ray Cyrus Makes Rap Song Country, Represents Something Bigger

Billy Ray Cyrus released new music this year, and on the five-song disc, he includes one of rapper LL Cool J’s songs. Cyrus puts a country spin on “Momma Said Knock You Out,” and even started a viral challenge on social media.

LL Cool J caught wind of the remake and shared his thoughts on the track, and even mentioned that it represents a unifying moment between two genres. He alludes that this is something that we should learn from and use as an example in our current nation’s circumstances.

“I absolutely like it. It has my stamp of approval. I love the idea of an artist taking something and reinterpreting it and making it their own. And it’s also with a country theme, right? We need more unifying moments like that. It represents something better… something better something greater, ” LL Cool J says.

He goes on to say maybe one day he and Cyrus will perform the song together.

Country Music Star Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman Adopt Cat

Like we said, country music stars are just like us. Many people adopted pets during the pandemic as a form of companionship. Keith Urban’s wife, award-winning actress Nicole Kidman adopted a cat, and boy did this feline with the lottery.

Furthermore, Kidman introduced the new family member in September by sharing some pictures. She writes, “Meet the newest member of our fur-family, Louis!”

Country Music Singers Shows Love by Spending Time with Family

Nothing shows unity more than a display for the family that unites you together. Kane Brown spent his extra time this year with his wife Katelyn and their daughter, Kingsley. The popular country music star’s 2020 tour was canceled due to the pandemic. However, he proved that sometimes all you need is love.

Katelyn shared this post of Kane playing with Kingsley. Their daughter is laughing and the caption reads, “no better sight or sound in the world.”

Additionally, Thomas Rhett was able to spend more time with his family. As a matter of fact, he’s taken the family on a little getaway this year.

His caption on the photos reads “love my girls.” They feature his wife, Lauren Akins, and his two daughters, Willa and Ada James.

Carrie Underwood Includes Son on Christmas Album

The country superstar released her first-ever Christmas album, and Carrie Underwood included a very memorable touch to her record.

Underwood’s 5-year-old son, Isiah signs a duet with his mom on the “Little Drummer Boy” track.

“I’m so happy we captured the sweetest voice in this special moment in time,” Underwood wrote in an Instagram post.

Miranda Lambert Finds Bright Spot in Country Music

Miranda Lambert reminded us that when we all join together in something, we can do great things. Like when fans listened to her recent single “Bluebird” and helped it become No. 1 on country radio.

The country music singer shone a bright light on what has been a pretty rough year for many Americans.

She writes, “Y’all giving this song wings was a bright spot of this year.”

Additionally, with the caption, Lambert also included a video of herself performing a stripped-down version of the timeless tune.

Garth Brooks Breaks Facebook Live

Garth Brooks and his wife Trisha Yearwood tried to unite us with a concert over Facebook Live. However, so many people, like 3.4 million people, were tuning it that the platform continuously crashed.

As a result, the country music stars saw a want here that they needed to fill and eventually announced a concert on broadcast TV.

“We’re seeing how big things can be when we all do them as one. In addition to the special, we and CBS will donate $1 million to charities to be determined, combating the COVID-19 virus,” Brooks and Yearwood said in a joint statement, USA Today shares.

Dolly Parton Provides Hope

Saying Dolly Parton has had a busy year is an understatement. The 74-year-old wrote a book, acted in a movie, released a Christmas album and even talked about posing in Playboy for her 75th birthday. And oh ya, she donated to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville in April.

Parton donated $1 million to research for a COVID-19 vaccine. In November, the New England Medical Journal reported that the research Parton’s donation helped to fund assisted the biotechnology company Moderna in developing its new COVID-19 vaccine, which has proven to be 95-percent effective against the virus.

Because if anyone knows anything about the numbers 9 and 5, it’s Dolly Parton.

The country music artist shares this post on the last day of 2020 saying, “Through all of the darkness, I’ve tried my best to spread some light in 2020. Thank you for coming along for the ride❤️See you all in 2021!”
