Gracie McGraw can sing. Genetically, the daughter of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill can’t avoid it. At her birth, there simply was no way that a spin of the DNA could turn up anything other than an incredible voice.
But she’s exploring a different aspect of entertainment. The daughter of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill wants to act. That’s why she’s living in Los Angeles and not in her hometown of Nashville.
Gracie McGraw, who is adept at social media, turned 23 earlier this month. And she celebrated the day a bit early with a tattoo on her forearm. Of course, she showed it off on Instagram. It’s a nod to her roots and both parents. She captioned the photo: “T & F for T & F. Iris for Tennessee. Magnolia for Louisiana and Mississippi. Boot cuz YEEHAW. “
Dad Tim McGraw was raised in Louisiana, while mom Faith Hill grew up in Mississippi.

Tim McGraw Didn’t Start Performing Until College. By Then, Faith Hill Was Seasoned Pro
Tim McGraw didn’t even start performing until he graduated high school and started attending Northeast Louisiana University (now known as Louisiana-Monroe). He was a baseball player and active in a fraternity. But he taught himself to play guitar and began doing gigs at campus-area bars. He’s said he was most fearful of calling his mother to tell her he no longer wanted to go to law school. His dreams changed and he headed to Nashville.
Meanwhile, Faith Hill was a seasoned singer by the time she was Gracie’s age. She began singing at churches near her home in Mississippi. She was in a band in high school. They played local rodeos and other events. Hill even sang for prisoners. She auditioned to be a backup singer for Reba McIntire, but wasn’t selected. At about Gracie’s age, she’d already moved to Nashville. She worked at a McDonald’s and was paying bills as a secretary at a publishing company.
Gracie Uses Instagram As Ready-Made Audience
Gracie McGraw uses her social media as a stage. She has more than 39,000 followers on Instagram, so she has a ready-made audience at most any time of the day or night. Sometimes the daughter of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill likes to sing show tunes. Over Christmas, the entire family was doing dinner and dressing up as characters from Hamilton. Gracie loves to sing Barbra Streisand.
And Gracie also likes to devote weekends to Broadway music. Last November, she posted a video of herself singing songs from the musical, Wicked.
“Just want to start off by saying YES, I know these aren’t the best vocal videos out there but Broadway makes me very happy and I hope to be there one day,” said the daughter of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. “This is practice for me. The only way to get better is to do it multiple times honey!!
“Here we are again, show tune Sunday/Saturday! Elphie is definitely another dream role for me so I was pleased when wicked was requested many times!! I got really excited with this one because this is the healthiest my voice has sounded while singing this song TO DATE.”
Yes, Gracie McGraw is following a different path than her mom and dad. But the entertainment goal is all the same.
