Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood Duet Debuts at No. 2

Broken Bow Records released “If I Didn’t Love You” last month. The power ballad duet landed on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart at No. 2 – a historic feat, according to Billboard.

In fact, it was the highest-ranking debut for a male-female duet of all time, leaping past even Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s “Nobody But You,” which debuted at No. 9.

The song was written by Aldean’s band members Kurt Allison and Tully Kennedy along with John Morgan and Lydia Vaughan. Aldean described it as a “love song breakup song thing,” per Variety. And it’s the lead single off Aldean’s upcoming 10th studio album, according to his website.

“I’m usually not a guy into doing real sappy-type love songs — not that this is sappy. It’s more of a kind of breaking up and getting over it kind of song. To me that’s a kind of love song,” Aldean told iHeart Country last month.
