Jimmie Allen Releasing New Christmas Song, Says It’s ‘Time to Dance Around the Tree’

The holidays mean holiday music. For many, it’s a controversial topic. Should people start listening right after Halloween, wait until after Thanksgiving, or just not at all? Jimmie Allen seems to think now is the perfect time to gear up for the holiday season. That includes Hallmark, eggnog, Christmas trees, and some Christmas music.

Jimmie Allen Holiday Release

Country artist Jimmie Allen announced his new Christmas song, “What Does Christmas Mean.” Allen will team up with The Shindellas and Louis York to create this holiday tune.

The Shindellas are a group of three women who explore Jazz, Soul, and R&B. They were introduced as a group by Chuck Harmony and Claude Kelly, also known as Louis York.

Prior to writing the Christmas album, Allen created “Bettie James.” This is a collection of collaborative songs. He featured songs with Noah Cyrus, Nelly, Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Darius Rucker, and several others.

The project with Noah Cyrus stands out the most for her title as a pop-rocker and his as a country artist.

Allen says that the song marriage was set in motion by his manager, Ash Bowers, who collaborates with Cyrus’ label head on occasion. She had this song and wanted to sing with somebody on it. It found its way to Allen, who was game because it sonically fit his mix of pop, country, and R&B. He doesn’t view it solely as a love song, “even if lyrically, that’s what it is,” according to Taste of Country.

Many artists have started to pave the way for pop-country collaborations. Country music has started to bleed into more genres recently. For example, Dan + Shay recently teamed up with Justin Bieber and Florida Georgia Line teamed up with Bebe Rexha. Also, of course, the Billboard defying single “Old Town Road” with Billy Ray Cyrus and Lil Nas X.

Artists Releasing Holiday Music

With so many artists revealing new music, a lot of it holiday related, it can be hard to keep track of what’s coming when.

Carrie Underwood released “My Gift” in September, 2020 after fans urging for years for a holiday release. The rising trio Runaway June released their EP “When I Think About Christmas” in October. Lady A released a deluxe version of “On This Winter Night” in October as well.

On Nov. 22 Dolly Parton will have “Christmas on the Square” premiere on Netflix. On Nov. 30 “CMA Country Christmas” will be on ABC. Then on Dec. 20 Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will have a holiday concert event.
