Jimmie Allen gave a standout performance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

The Performance From Jimmie Allen

On New Year’s Eve (December 310, the country crooner took the stage outside on New York City’s Times Square. Ryan Seacrest introduced him to the stage. Allen donned a bright yellow hat with a bright blue jacket that featured feathered wings on his back. He also made a statement with his cheetah-print pants and blue sneakers.

He kicked off his performance with his No. 1 hit, “Make Me Want To.” The section in front of the stage, where the crowd would normally stand, was filled with inflatable beach balls. Crowds gathered in small groups socially distanced nearby.

Allen gave a shoutout to country radio and wished everyone a Happy New Year. “Love is love, rest in peace Charley Pride,” he concluded. He then transitioned into a performance of his latest single, “Freedom Was A Highway.”

Seacrest spoke to Allen after his performance, while he was playing with the beachballs. “This year was trying a lot of hard times but hard times what build character,” he said. “There’s a lot of things we can pull from for sure to move forward.”

Seacrest asked what it was like knowing the late Pride. “He meant everything to me,” Allen said. Before he got signed to his record label, he spent his last $100 to go see him live in concert. He added that he wants to “continue his legacy” and that he wouldn’t be doing what he is doing without Pride paving the way.

Jimmie and Ryan’s Relationship

During their chat, Seacrest mentioned that he originally met Allen ten years ago. Seacrest is the host for American Idol, where Allen was rejected from.

Allen recently looked back at his ten year anniversary on the singing competition show. “Hard to believe this was almost 10 years ago, feels like yesterday,” he tweeted. “Even though things didn’t end the way I planned, I’m still thankful for the opportunity. I made some life long friends on @AmericanIdol and created some great memories.”
