If you are going to make an “idiot” first impression on anyone, Willie Nelson may be the way to go. Kacey Musgraves reveals the first time she met the iconic singer and why she was speechless.

Kacey Musgraves took to social media to reveal some “firsts” for the country star in a two-minute video. Musgraves also shares some personal memories that stand out for her as significant moments that impacted her life.

Kacey Musgraves is Star Struck

When you are already as big a star as Kacey Musgraves, it’s probably pretty hard to get star struck. With six Grammy Awards, six CMA Awards, and three ACM Awards, not a lot of artists can show for more.

Besides Willie Nelson.

Willie Nelson has earned the title as one of the most recognizable artists within country music with over 65 years of experience. He also has 95 studio albums, 70 solo albums, and 130 singles.

Yeah, we would say Willie Nelson is an excellent person to get star struck over.

“I have to say. I’m really hardly starstruck by anybody,” says Kacey Musgraves. “The first person I felt just like an idiot in front of, and not because of anything he was doing, it was Willie. I was like… what do I say, right now? I was also really high so that probably had something to do with it.”

Well, we are fairly certain that Willie Nelson was probably high as well, so no need to sweat about that one.

However, the impression must not have been that bad. The two artists collaborated at the 2019 CMA awards to sing the hit song, “Rainbow Connection.”

Number One Voice

As for the first time Kacey Musgraves won first prize for her twangy angelic voice, the 32-year-old artist reveals she was only eight years old. In addition, she had one thing on mind for how she wanted to spend her prize money.

“The first time I won a competition, I was eight years old, and I sang “Cowboy’s Sweetheart,” reveals Kacey Musgraves. “I won $50, and I told my mom, this is so country, I said ‘Now I can buy my own steak!’”

We love it—a girl with an appetite who knows what she wants.
