Kacey Musgraves Celebrated Joe Biden’s Victory
The country artist has been a critic of Trump and his policies during his administration. In August, she urged her fans not to vote for the president in the 2020 election. She said Trump was anti-LGBTQ. She wrote, “If you love an LGBTQ+ person and you’re planning on voting for Donald Trump in November, that’s an act of violence against them.”
Musgraves voted for Biden and running mate Kamala Harris in the election. She celebrated their victory in a series of tweets, noting the historical significance of Harris’ victory. Harris will become the first female, black and Asian vice-president in American history. She also shared a photo of Harris’ Douglas Emhoff, who will become the first Second Husband in U.S. history.
In one tweet, she wrote, “GIDDY UP GIDDY UP! & RIDE STRAIGHT OUTTA THIS F–kING TOWN! GOODBYE” in response to Trump being elected out. In a second tweet, she included a clip of her singing “High Horses” with the caption, YEEHAW, B—HES.”
In another tweet, Musgraves said, “Only touring Pennsylvania from now on.”
Pennsylvania played an important role in the 2020 Election. The state was one of several hotly contested battleground states. Initially, Trump led in Pennsylvania, but Biden took the lead on Nov. 6. Media outlets project him to win the state after his lead increased to 34, 558 votes. The state gave Biden 273 electoral votes, three more than needed to become president.
