On Thursday, CMT announced that country music star Kane Brown will co-host the 2020 CMT Music Awards on Oct. 21 in Nashville, TN. The musician is one of four celebrities scheduled to host this year’s awards show.
In addition to Brown, Modern Family star Sarah Hyland has been announced as the second co-host of the 2020 CMT Music Awards. It will be both of the stars first time hosting the event. The network will unveil the other two co-hosts at a later date.
“The CMT Music Awards have always been about bringing the fans and their favorite artists together to celebrate. I have so many great memories of the show. From watching as a fan at home to accepting my first industry award win on the CMT stage,” Brown said in a press release. “I’m excited to join this year as a first-time host and can’t wait for everyone to see the amazing performances that are lined up this year.”
Brown is a two-time 2020 CMT Music Awards nominee who will also perform during the awards show.
“I’m so excited to be co-hosting the 2020 CMT Music Awards this year!” Hyland added in the announcement. “Fans are the backbone of music and art; without them we would never be able to do what we love. I can’t wait to see what happens at this year’s show and who the fans vote for.”

In addition to Brown, other artists that will perform include Ingrid Andress, Hardy, Caylee Hammack, Mickey Guyton, and Riley Green. Furthermore, Travis Denning, Maren Morris, Ashley McBryde, Dan + Shay, Little Big Town and Luke Bryan will all perform during the awards show as well. The country music network will reveal more performers in the near future.
The artists with the most nominations include McBryde, Dan + Shay, Kelsea Ballerini, Luke Combs, Sam Hunt, and Thomas Rhett.
The CMT Music Awards are a fan-voted award show. The nominees were announced on Sept. 23. Fans can still vote for each of the award show’s categories. In fact, you can vote right HERE.
The 2020 CMT Music Awards were originally scheduled for June. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards show will now air on Oct. 21 at 9PM EST on CMT. Additionally, fans can watch on MTV, MTV2, Logo, Paramount Network, Pop TV and TV Land as well. The show’s performances will take place outdoors around Nashville.
