Well, we have our culprit. We have the person we can blame the mess of 2020 on, and he goes by the name of Keith Urban.
That’s right. Point your fingers at the 53-year-old Aussi, for it was his poorly aged joke that jinxed us all for a year.
Only kidding. But this coincidence is too funny to not point out.
The Tweet that Ruined 2020
Keith Urban joined the Ellen DeGeneres show virtually to catch up on life. The host also couldn’t miss the opportunity to remind the country artist how he alone ruined 2020.
“You know, here’s the thing,” says Ellen. “I don’t know if you remember this, but you were playing Las Vegas at the start of 2020, and you tweeted out, “2020 is going to be the best time ever!”
An image of the tweet appears on the screen.
It reads, “ Vegas… if those first 4 shows are a sign of things to come in 2020, we’re gonna have THE BEST TIME there EVER!!!! Thank u for bringing it! I would give you ALL a scrunchie if I could .!- KU #KeithUrbanVegas.”
“I completely jinxed it!” laughs Keith Urban.
“Yes, you did,” smiles Ellen.
“That is insane. Oh my gosh. Yeah, I’m sorry about that.”
“Yeah, we blame you,” Ellen says.
“Then I should tweet out that 2022 is going to be the worst year in history,” Urban notes. “I think that will probably calibrate everything.”
“Good, good. Do that for sure,” states Ellen.
We checked, and Keith Urban still hasn’t made this good fortune tweet yet. He really needs to get typing because my bank account and mental stability cannot survive another year like 2020. No matter how much banana bread I made, it doesn’t compare to a cold beer and a concert with friends.
Keith Urban and Taylor Swift Collaboration
In addition, Keith Urban opened up about his feature on Taylor Swift’s new-old album Fearless.
The original Fearless album was released in 2008, but after issues with rights to her own music, Swift remade the whole album this year, called Fearless (Taylor’s Version).
On April 3, Swift publicly thanked Keith Urban for being part of the special track, revealing that his music “inspired me endlessly.”
“I’m really honored that @KeithUrban is a part of this project, duetting on That’s When, and singing harmonies on We Were Happy. I was his opening act during the Fearless album era, and his music has inspired me endlessly.”
Urban responded to the young superstar’s message, saying that Taylor is “fearless”. Pun intended.
