Keith Urban has had a lot on his plate the last couple of months. Sadly, he had to add jokingly turning down Ellen DeGeneres for any future music videos to his schedule as well.
Recently, Ellen Degeneres and tWitch filmed a video for the song “Leave the Door Open.” It’s a song by Silk Sonic, a new duo consisting of Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak. Ellen is rocking an all-yellow, ’70s inspired outfit. She completed the look with heart-shaped glasses that sit on the top of a blonde, poofy wig. Meanwhile, the two not-so-gracefully sing along to the song.
Keith Urban was virtually on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” where she asked him if they could ever be in one of his future country music videos.
Ellen DeGeneres and Keith Urban
Keith Urban said he had seen the recent video. While he appreciated the effort, something was just not there for him. He let out his old “American Idol” judge qualities to nicely turn her down.
“Everything was great, the moves, the choreography, obviously you guys worked hard on that,” Urban said. He went on to really pinpoint the glasses Ellen wore on the top of her head as the true culprit for her not being the right fit for any future videos.
“That’s not in trend. Sorry about that,” Urban joked to Ellen.
This weekend Keith Urban will be hosting the Academy of Country Music awards. The show is on Sunday, April 18. It is taking place at the legendary Grand Ole Opry House, Ryman Auditorium, and the Bluebird Cafe.
Urban was also the host of the award show in 2020. This year he will be joined by Mickey Guyton as co-host. The two are also teasing a collaboration. Urban wrote on social media, “Thrilled to be back hosting the @acmawards for a second year!!! And you know I love a good collaboration … @mickeyguyton, what do you say? Tune in April 18th.”
Mickey Guyton is a country and country-pop artist. She has past Grammy nominations as well as ACM award nominations. She is most known for her song “Black Like Me,” which was up for a Grammy. Its release came during the George Floyd protests and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Keith Urban Recent Music
Recently, Urban has released his album “The Speed of Now Part 1.” He released it during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in which artists have had to take a break from their normally busy touring lives.
Ellen DeGeneres joked about an old tweet of Urban’s from the very beginning of 2020. He wrote, “Vegas….. if those first 4 shows are a sign of things to come in 2020 , we’re gonna have THE BEST TIME there EVER!!!!” It just didn’t age well.
Despite not being able to have a good time on stage, Keith Urban has still been keeping busy. Urban is still writing and recording more songs for the second part of his album. His family has also been spending a lot of time in Australia as well.
In fact, he first heard some of Taylor Swift’s unreleased songs “From the Vault” while he was out shopping in Australia.
“We were in Australia. I was doing some Christmas shopping at the shopping mall in December … I get a text from Taylor saying ‘I got these couple of songs I’d like you to sing on, do you want to hear them?’ She sends me the songs and I’m sitting at the food court in the shopping center listening to these two unreleased Taylor Swift songs,” Urban told Ellen DeGeneres.
Keith Urban is featured on two songs from the “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” album. He lends his vocal talent to both “That’s When” and “We Were Happy.” Both of which are new tracks that Taylor Swift added to the album, which originally released in 2008. The two have a long history together. In fact, the two last collaborated together when he paid a visit during her “1989” tour in Toronto.
