Kelly Clarkson Performs ‘Under the Mistletoe’ With Brett Eldredge on ‘Fallon’

Singer, coach and talk show host Kelly Clarkson took a break from her show to visit Jimmy Fallon’s.

Clarkson recently joined country singer Brett Eldredge to perform “Under the Mistletoe” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

Kelly Clarkson Duets With Brett Eldredge

Clarkson co-wrote the song with her guitarist, Aben Eubanks. It’s about a couple who reunite under the mistletoe – perhaps a painful subject for Clarkson, who is going through a divorce. But she showed no sign of emotional distress as she performed it on “Fallon.”

Clarkson and Eldredge have performed the song together multiple times this holiday season. They also appeared on “The Voice” as well as NBC’s holiday special “Christmas in Rockefeller Center.”

The song has since reached No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“I love writing new Christmas songs that have a classic, throwback vibe,” Clarkson said of this song in an email to fans obtained by CMT. “Brett is such an amazing singer and I was so impressed by his classic sound on his Christmas record so it was a perfect match for picking a duet partner for ’Under The Mistletoe.’”

Bringing A Little Sunshine

Clarkson said the several Christmas songs she’s been dropping lately are intended to keep her fans happy until her new album comes out next year. She’s reportedly been working on new material during the divorce process, so this year should be a fruitful one for her creatively.

“Fans have been asking like, ‘Can you just drop anything? Everyone is sad. Everyone is feeling it. The world has gone to crap, like can you just release something?’” Clarkson told “Today” this fall. “So just give them something a little bit here and there. That’s the cool thing about being in the artistic world, you get to maybe bring a little bit of sunshine or distraction.”
