Country music star Kenny Chesney took to social media on Tuesday afternoon to share a sneak peek at the trailer for the music video of “Knowing You.”
Chesney released the much-anticipated song back in February. But now, fans can get excited about the music video which is set to drop this Friday. The country star says that he wanted to make a video that was just as powerful as the lyrics of the song.
“While it’s a simple country song,” Chesney says, “it’s the kind of song that can hold anyone. You don’t have to be on a fishing boat freezing to know this pain and gratitude for knowing someone who changed your life. And wherever they are, you know they’re living their best life, shining and doing the same thing for someone else – and that’s pretty rich.”
Kenny Chesney posted a sneak peek from the upcoming release of his music video to his 2.6 million followers on Twitter. Take a look below:
One fan, Beverly Thompson, (@BeverlyTumbles1), wrote a response saying that the song makes her grateful to have survived cancer.
“So beautiful! Thanks for the wonderful song …. it makes me so grateful to have survived cancer and remember those I have lost.”
Another Twitter user, Jami Lamb-McMullen, (@JAMI247), commented saying, “Love it !!! I’m sure it’s connecting to a lot of people especially over these last year in a half ❤️ BEAUTIFUL SONG.”
And finally, Beth Holli (@BethHolli) left a touching message for Chesney as well.
“This is going to be such a touching video especially at this time with thoughts of Maria she has her wings but you will see her on the other side,” she says. “This was the perfect song for this time in your life it says so much xoxo 😢”
Kenny Chesney Says Goodbye to Dear Friend
The release of the music video for “Knowing You” will be especially emotional for Kenny Chesney. The county music star had to say goodbye to his long-time friend, Maria Rodriguez, in February after she died in a helicopter crash in the Virgin Islands.
He took to Instagram to post a heartfelt goodbye and tribute to Rodriguez.
“She was a dear friend to me and to our island community. I have been flying with Maria for over 15 years and we shared a lot of laughs and a lot of life together,” the 52-year-old wrote. “She was always the first person I saw when I landed and the last person I said goodbye to when I would leave the island. I’m sure going to miss that.”
However, Chesney says that “Knowing You” isn’t about just one person or for one person. It’s a song that can mean whatever people want it to mean to them specifically.
“This song could be so many things to so many people,” says Chesney. “However the other person faded from your life, it doesn’t have to be sad, or it can be as complete as losing your spouse, family, your best friend or band member. Those moments you shared were so electric and so alive, you’re forever more… and though they’re gone, you’re always better for what was shared.”
