No shoes, no shirt, it’s Christmas.
Palm trees and tropical beaches may not be the first thing you imagine when you think about Christmas. But warm sunshine and a nice tan is all Kenny Chesney wants according to his Tweet.
Kenny Chesney posted a photo of himself on a boat and wearing a Santa hat. He said, “All I want for Christmas is a real good tan. Take me to the islands put my feet in the sand…” The line is from his Christmas song, “All I Want For Christmas is a Real Good Tan.”
Not all of us will be able to escape to a remote island for the holidays but Chesney’s Christmas album can certainly help us feel like we’re sitting on the beach with a refreshing drink. Chesney sings, “How about two tickets to a tropical show, where we don’t have to wear these winter clothes anymore?”
The album includes a cameo from Willie Nelson during “Pretty Paper.” It also features The Grigsby Twins in “Silent Night.” Haven’t heard of The Grisby Twins before? That’s because it’s Kenny Chesney’s mom, Karen, and her sister, Sharon.
Chesney sings, “Singing Silent night with the palms trees blowin’…don’t you think it’s a pretty good plan?” Kenny Chesney is definitely tempting us to book some tickets!
Why Did Kenny Chesney Make A Christmas Album?
Almost a decade after releasing his last Christmas album, Kenny Chesney released, “Christmas In Blue Chair Bay.” This song focuses on the laid-back style of holidays on the beach. “We got some mistletoe hung from the bow of the boat. Stockings are filled with sunshine rays. It’s Christmas in Blue Chair Bay.”
During an interview with Home Sweet Country Music, Chesney talked about his inspiration for the song.
“I was in the mood, especially with the time I’ve been spending in Barbados with my rum, to try and distill how slow and sweet the holidays in the islands are,” Chesney said. “It seems like there are few times of the year when you can really unplug. Really just be in the moment with your family and your friends and celebrate how great life is,” he added. “Over the last 10 years, I’ve really come to appreciate that time off, and what those connections mean. And I wanted to share that feeling with my friends through music.”
