LeAnn Rimes has posted some outtakes from her “Be Still and Know” chant meditation video.
“Ever feel like you’re being tested,” Rimes posted to Instagram. “This is what you didn’t see before my #Thanksgiving ‘Be Still And Know’ chant meditation. If you want to get a little Zen (the planes quieted down… a bit and I weaved all the sounds of the great outdoors into the meditation) head over to my @YouTube channel to watch the full video.”
Rimes Shares Outtakes
The outtakes feature a loud buzzing sound as a plane flies overhead and some distracted swatting from Rimes.
“Is this guy for real?” Rimes wondered, looking overhead. “There’s a plane that, he knows I’m trying to film a meditation video. And there’s a, there’s a fly,” she added, waving her hand in front of her face. “There’s everything that’s happening right now. This guy keeps circling. Um. I’m trying to film this video outside, but I don’t know if it’s gonna work. Okay. Well, hopefully— the dog wants to join in also.”
A Different Direction
Rimes went in a bit of a different direction for the release of her new album, “Chant: The Human & The Holy.” The country singer said she used her vocal cords to further her own healing in this album, recording 12 tracks of “mantras and messages” instead of songs.
She said she had been in the process of making a more traditional album when the chants occurred to her.
“This Chant album came up for me in the middle of making my next album. While meditating, melodies and words would rise up for me,” Rimes told Billboard. “I would hit record on my phone and go back to meditating thinking they were something for my album. I recognized later that the pieces of songs were actually self-contained chants. And I felt responsible that they should see the light of day.”
