There are not too many things better than hearing Lee Greenwood singing his classic song, “God Bless the USA.” But if there was one thing, it would be an a capella version of the timeless hit.
While Lee Greenwood has put together some of the most epic performances of his patriotic hit, there was perhaps none more moving than when he teamed up with the United States Army Chorus for an a capella rendition. Back in 2015, Greenwood met the U.S. Army Chorus in the tunnel at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. after performing at the NHL Winter Classic. There, they started singing an impromptu a capella version of his classic “God Bless the USA.”

Many Lee Greenwood fans took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the a capella version of his hit song.
Eddie Fox left a comment saying that watching the video nearly brought him to tears.
“I am a (legal) immigrant to the USA. This chokes me up. I am so incredibly proud to be an American citizen. What a privilege and an honor.”
Meanwhile, YouTube user George Vreeland Hill left a message as well. He simply wrote, “And I’m proud to be an American. God bless the USA. Nothing more needs to be said.”
One of the most liked comments on the video was from Joe’s Classic Video Games. They replied saying, “What a fantastic version of this! I like all the smiles on everybody’s face, they look like it’s an honor to sing such a great song.”
‘God Bless the USA’ – Lee Greenwood
There is no question that the Lee Greenwood hit “God Bless the USA” is one of the most patriotic songs of all time. Also widely referred to as “Proud to be an American,” the hit song was originally released in 1984 and even played at the 1984 Republican National Convention with President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan in attendance.
And while the song has always been popular, it gained even more recognition after it was re-released in 2001 following the tragic September 11 attacks. His passionate performance during Game 4 of the 2001 World Series is most certainly one of his best.
But the song is without question the most popular from Lee Greenwood. It’s a safe bet that every American knows the lyrics or has at least heard them. We had no choice but to include it on our list of the most patriotic country songs of the ’90s.
