Carrie Underwood’s upcoming gospel album, My Savior, includes a duet with a legend in the world of gospel music. The country star collaborated with gospel icon CeCe Winans for “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” which Underwood released on Friday, Feb. 26.

Underwood and Winans trade verses on the duet and their voices harmonize perfectly together, adding to the song’s angelic nature. The accompanying piano builds throughout the song to create an awe-inspiring crescendo as they swap lines in the final verse.

In 1923, Thomas O. Chisholm originally wrote “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” as a poem instead of a song. William M. Runyan composed the melody after Chisholm sent him the original poem.

“Great Is Thy Faithfulness” is one of 13 songs Underwood recorded for My Savior. In the past, Carrie Underwood shared her rendition of the gospel song, “Softly and Tenderly.”

Following her 2020 holiday album My Gift, the gospel record kicks off with an instrumental. It also includes traditional songs of the genre such as “How Great Thou Art,” “The Old Rugged Cross”, and “Amazing Grace.”

Produced by David Garcia, My Savior will be available for fans just in time for Easter on Mar. 26.

Legendary Icon Joins Carrie Underwood On Gospel Track

Together, both Carrie Underwood and CeCe Winans have 19 Grammy Awards under their belts. When Underwood asked Winans to work with her on the song, she expressed nothing but gratitude. “Thank you for inviting me to sing with you on this amazing project, she said. “It was an honor to be a part.”

CeCe Winans has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and holds the title of best-selling female gospel artist of all time, with nearly ten million total albums sold as a solo artist and when she works with her brother BeBe Winans. As for Underwood, she’s sold a whopping 70 million albums in her fifteen-year career.

“I want it to appeal to the people like me who grew up singing these songs but also, we’ll be introducing these songs to a whole new generation as well. When you think about the meaning behind Easter, it is about so much thankfulness to Jesus. That is what this album is about. What a joy it’s been to make music like this right now.”
