Loretta Lynn Wishes Her Twin Daughters ‘Happy Birthday’ in Heartwarming Post: ‘Momma Loves You’

by Keeli Parkey

August 6 is an important date for country music legend Loretta Lynn. It’s not a date that has anything to do with her iconic career.

This date is important to her because it is the birthdate of her twin daughters, Peggy Lynn and Patsy Lynn. The Coal Miner’s Daughter took to social media to publically wish them a happy birthday.

On Friday, Lynn shared eight photos of her twins throughout the years. A few of the photos show Peggy and Patsy as very young children. One of these is an adorable photo of the girls with Loretta Lynn and her husband, Doo. In this picture, the parents and daughters are all smiles as they share a moment on a porch. Lynn also shared photos of her twins as adults, including a shot of them singing on stage.

In addition to the photos, Loretta Lynn shared a very heartwarming message with her children.

“They’ve been a handful since day one. They were daddy’s girls right out the gate and, boy, did they have him wrapped!” the famous country music star posted.

Now that they are grown women, Peggy and Patsy Lynn, are very close to their famous mother.

“They’ve become momma’s girls in a big way and my best friends. I was sure shocked to have twins but wouldn’t trade them for the world. Today’s their day,” Lynn also shared.

Loretta Lynn closed her message with a few simple, yet very sweet words, for her daughters.

“Happy birthday, girls. Momma loves you. #mybabies #cominginpairs #doublethelove,” the 89-year-old legend also shared.

Loretta Lynn’s Twins Were Born in 1964

According to PBS, Peggy and Patsy Lynn were born on Aug. 6, 1964, making them 57 years old today.

They followed their mother into the country music world. Together, they made up The Lynns country music group. They released an album on the Reprise Records label. They also had two singles make it to Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. In 1998 and 1999, they were up for vocal duo of the year at the CMA awards. Patsy has also worked with her famous mother. For example, she helped John Carter Cash – the son of legends Johnny Cash and June Carter – produce Lynn’s 2016 album, “Full Circle.”

Patsy and Peggy were the last two children born to Loretta Lynn and Doo. The couple had six children total. Their first child, Betty Sue Lynn, was born in 1948. She died from emphysema in 2013.

Their second child, Jack Benny Lynn, was born in 1949. He died in 1984. Recently, the country music star shared a message on Instagram about him on the 37th anniversary of his death. “He was quiet and tender. I adored him with all my heart. He and Betty Sue got into everything when they were little and I was a new momma. They kept me on my toes and I’d do it all again if I could. They’re together now. Jack, I love you, honey. You still bring a smile to me every time I think of you. #foreveryoung #mommasboy” Lynn said.

Loretta Lynn’s other children are Clara Marie Lynn and Ernest Ray Lynn. Clara was born in 1952. Ernest was born two years later in 1954.
