For the second year in a row, Time has named Luke Comb part of its Time100 Next list, counting down the 100 most influential people in the world in 2021.
Today Time unveiled the coveted list in a press release, highlighting those “who are shaping the future and defining the next generation of leadership.”
The people chosen for the Time100 list come from various backgrounds, including music, public health, sports, philanthropy, acting, and elsewhere. In addition, the list does not have an age requirement.
Luke Combs is the only country artist to make the Times list.
Garth Brooks shares his admiration for Combs, calling him sincere and humble.
“In this age of self-promotion, Luke Combs is letting everybody else do the talking for him,” says Brooks. “That’s big in country music, which is all about sincerity and humility. And—despite his achievements, including winning Best Album at the 2020 Country Music Awards—Luke has both of those in spades. He realizes that being a star is not up to him: the people will confirm it.”
“Everything Luke tries— from Brooks & Dunn to classic country, neoclassic country and today’s country — he sounds very much at home. He’s a singer who you can tell is really comfortable.”
Garth Brooks finished up the Time’s article with some words of advice for Luke Combs from a seasoned veteran.
“If I could pull him over and tell him one thing, it would be to just keep doing what he’s doing. Just follow that music. What resonates with him will resonate with the audience, with me, with everybody who’s listening.”
Time100 Next List
Other names that made the list are Dua Lipa, Lil Baby, Charlie D’Amelio, Doja Cat, Luca Doncic, and Trevor Lawrence.
Times CEO and Editor-in-Chief Edward Felsenthal says that all the people on the list are instrumental in pushing society forward.
“They are doctors and scientists fighting COVID-19. Advocates pushing for equality and justice. Journalists standing up for truth, and artists sharing their visions of present and future.”
Editorial Director Dan Macsai also added saying, “Everyone on this list is poised to make history. And, in fact, many already have.”
Luke Combs Success
Even though Luke Combs is only 30, he already had already made quite a name for himself.
He has numerous multi-platinum-certified albums, was named CMA New Artist of the Year in 2018, and ACM New Male Artist of the Year in 2019. In addition, Combs took home the title for Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year at the CMA Awards in 2020.
