Luke Combs is a part of the group of musicians that spent the downtime created by the pandemic and quarantine creating new music. And the “Better Together” crooner is promising big things from the upcoming tunes.
Combs released his major-label debut album, “This One’s for You” in June 2017. It was No.1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. In June of 2018, Combs released the deluxe version of the album with five new tracks.
In November 2019, Luke Combs released his second album, “What You See Is What You Get.” He accompanied the album with a deluxe version as well titled, “What You See Ain’t Always What You Get,” which was released in October 2020.
During 2020, Combs has released very popular singles like “Six Feet Apart” and “Lovin’ on You.” His song “Forever After All” actually set new streaming records for country music on both Apple Music and Spotify.
Now, Combs is looking to make 2021 a special year for him as well. He is talking about the release of his third album.
Luke Combs Third Album
In a really simple tweet Combs shared that his album will be “real good.”
It’s no surprise given the fact that Combs has earned two Grammy Awards, five CMA awards, two iHeart Radio music awards, and several others during his career so far. According to Billboard, Combs is the second artist to have their first two albums spend 20 weeks at No.1 on the Top Country Albums chart.
At one point Combs had said he wanted his next album to tie into his bluegrass roots. However, he said that project is on hold and he is instead working on the third album, which will likely sound similar to his formerly recorded sound.
There are no release dates for the album coming anytime soon. He announced that he was starting on the project this month. However, given his success and popularity after only a few years, fans are excited to listen to that next full-length album.
Luke Combs and Bluegrass Music
Combs is putting his future bluegrass album on hold and instead coming out with his third album.
However, his newest single, “The Great Divide,” gives fans a sneak peek of this sound. He dropped the single in February and it is a collaboration with bluegrass artist Billy Strings. He actually wrote the song back in June of 2020 alongside Wyatt Durrette, but just now decided to record it.
“Something that I’ve always wanted to do is write and put out a bluegrass album. This is a song that was supposed to be a part of that project. It’s not a lead single or a lead-in to that project yet, because that is not done. But it felt like the right time to put this song out,” Combs said in a statement, according to Country Now.
The song also ties into the overall cultural and political state of the world through their eyes.
“We’re all so far, so far apart now/ It’s as deep as it is wide/ We’re about to fall apart now/ If we can’t reach the other side/ We gotta find a way across the great divide.”
