We all know that Luke Combs is a dedicated country music star. But evidently he’s pretty dedicated to the sport of flag football as well. So much so that he trucked over one of his close friends in the midst of a heated game.
Combs, a North Carolina native, has grown up basically his entire life as a football fan of the Carolina Panthers. As a matter of fact, the country star was only three years old when the Panthers were first awarded their expansion franchise in Charlotte, North Carolina, back in 1993. Then the Panthers, along with the Jacksonville Jaguars, first began play during the 1995 season. And Combs, who was born in 1990, has been a fan ever since.
However, on Sunday, Combs may have taken his passion for football just a little too far. In what was supposed to be a friendly game of flag football, the “She Got the Best of Me” singer had his competitive juices flowing. His Carolina Panthers were playing on Sunday, and you better believe he was too. He posted a clip from the afternoon on Twitter that shows him trucking one of his friends.
In the post, Combs tags his photographer, filmmaker, and creative director, Zack Massey. Massey is the one combs ran over during the flag football game.
“Sometimes flag football gets heated. @zackmassey sorry pal,” Combs captioned the clip.
Country music fans obviously know all about Luke Combs. And they even know that as a North Carolina native, Combs has grown up as a Carolina Panthers fan. That’s why there were plenty of Panthers-related comments in the replies section of Combs’ latest tweet. One user on Twitter suggested that the Panthers should sign Combs to a contract.
“Sheeeeeesh @Panthers sign this man!” they said.
Another fan commented, “Looking like @jayceehorn_10 out there.” He was referring to the Panthers’ first-round draft pick earlier this year, cornerback Jaycee Horn, who the team selected at number eight overall.
And finally, someone had to make a fantasy football joke saying, “Putting in a waiver claim right no FB/TE.”
Luke Combs Hangs Out at Carolina Panthers Practice
Okay, now it kind of makes sense why Luke Combs was so ready to play some flag football today. Just a couple of weeks ago, he stopped by practice to hang out with some of the Carolina Panthers players. The official Panthers Twitter posted photos of the occasion, and in one of the snaps Combs can be seen hanging out and chatting with All Pro running back Christian McCaffrey.
“We might need to hear a @lukecombs and @CMC_22 collab. Thanks for joining us!” the Carolina account posted on Twitter. Combs followed that up by retweeting the post, saying, “RB1 and QBNone.”
