His recent single Forever After All is one of his more well-known tracks, but country superstar Luke Comb is admitting that he was rather nervous to sing the song the first time to his now-wife, Nicole Combs.
During a recent interview, Luke Comb states he had written the single prior to him and Nicole officially dating. He also explains that they had only been on three dates when he wrote the song.
“I wrote that song about her before we had even started dating officially. So, I mean, that was the song. I’ll never forget playing it for her the first time.”
Luke Combs then says he wasn’t sure if Nicole would think if he was a creep for writing such a deep and personal song about her without fully knowing her at the time.
“She’d be like, ‘This guy, I’ve been on three dates with this guy. And he’s already written a song about me.’ But hey, it worked out. It worked out, you know?”
Luke Combs released the single in October 2020. The song made its debut at number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Hot Country Songs chart for the week ending on November 7, 2020. The accompanying music video features footage of Luke and Nicole’s wedding day. They were married in Florida on August 1, 2020.
Luke Combs Talks About Putting Wedding Footage in His ‘Forever After All’ Music Video
Also during the interview, Luke Combs opens up about adding the footage from his wedding into the Forever After All music video. “Obviously we had hired a videographer to come and do our wedding. So, there wasn’t anyone there. It was never planned to be the music video.”
Luke Combs states he and Nicole decided to add the footage. “We decided later on it was like, ‘Hey man, let’s get some of this wedding footage, chop it up, put it together. Me and my wife sat down together and talked about it.”
The country singer does say that he and Nicole want everyone to see the footage a little bit.
“We decided that the fans have been invested in our relationship for a long time. So we wanted them to have a look at it.”
