Miranda Lambert learned through the year-long pandemic that her husband “really can put up with me.”

“That was the good news.”

“We got married not that long ago, and so we were really had a lot of togetherness,” Lambert said of her husband. They celebrated their second anniversary earlier this year.

“We got to really know each other. It was fun.”

Lambert and Brendan McLoughlin mostly were stuck with each other as the world shut down this time a year ago. In the music business, tours were curtailed and shows were canceled. Lambert and her husband got through the downtime by taking long driving trips together.

Sunday night was just for fun.

Miranda Lambert Walked Red Carpet In Sparkly Silver Gown

Lambert walked the red carpet as part of the outdoor Grammy ceremony in Los Angeles. She updated reporters with what her life had been like over the past year.

“When you travel for a living, sometimes you don’t want to travel on your time off,” Lambert said. “So that was another positive thing about being forced to be off tour. I got to go see some actually see some things.”

How’d Miranda Lambert and McLoughlin get through the long drives? They listened to true crime podcasts.

Then after the red carpet, Lambert and her husband had so many reasons to party. As promised, Lambert wore something fancy to the ceremony. She looked terrific in an embroidered silver gown. The flirty dress featured a thigh-high split and a low, low neckline.

“I have a dress, and a really hot husband who has a really nice suit, so we’re good on that,” Miranda Lambert said.

Win, Win! Lambert Performed and Won Grammy

She performed her hit Bluebird.

Then her Wildcard album won the Grammy for Best Country Album. It was the first time all nominees for the honor were either women and/or female-fronted groups.

“I feel like holding this right now, I’m holding it for all of us — especially us girls,” Lambert said in her acceptance speech as she held up her Grammy. “I’m very thankful for this.”

The other nominees for country album of the year were Ingrid Andress, Brandy Clark, Ashley McBryde, and Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook.

Lambert currently is busy with the release of her new album, The Marfa Tapes. That meant a lot more driving trips. Lambert co-wrote the songs and recorded them in Marfa, a West Texas arty hamlet that is really out of the way. It’s a seven-hour drive from Austin. And the nearest public airport is about 150 miles from Marfa.

On the album, Miranda Lambert was joined by two other Texans — Jack Ingram and Jon Randall. They won an ACM award in 2018 the last time the three collaborated together.

So maybe there will be another Grammy trip next year.
