Pardon country music superstar Miranda Lambert if she’s feeling sad right now. Her dog Jessi recently died and fans have reached out to her.
Lambert offered some words of thanks to those fans in an Instagram post.
“Best Fringe Forever! That’s @gwensebastian [Gwen Sebastian] having my back last night and every night for nearly a decade,” Lambert wrote on Instagram. “Love you Gwennie. So glad I get to saaang with you. Also a big thank ya to Guthrie Center IA for singing so loud all night. Especially on “The House That Built Me”. After loosing Jessi this week, that line about the dog got me pretty teary. Yall are awesome.”
Last Thursday, Miranda Lambert, a true-blue dog-lover, announced that Jessi had passed away.
“Today we had to say goodbye to our sweet Jessi,” Lambert wrote. “I got to love her and be her mom for 13 1/2 years.”
Miranda Lambert Is True-Blue Lover Of Dogs As She Shared Story Of Finding Jessi
If you were wondering just how Lambert wound up with Jessi and her other dog Waylon, well, it happened in typical Miranda Lambert fashion.
She has always had a sweet spot for dogs. When Lambert saw two puppies on the side of the road back in 2008, she couldn’t help but bring them home.
“I found her and her brother Waylon on the side of the road in Oklahoma in Jan 2008 in the middle of a sleet storm,” Lambert wrote on Instagram. “They were six weeks old. My mom was in the truck with me and we were listening to the ‘I am Jessi Colter’ album. That’s how they got their names.”
Miranda Lambert also wrote that Waylon passed away in October 2020.
“We got to have Jessi just a little longer,” Lambert admitted. “But the truth is they belong together. They always have. I know she missed him terribly and we are so thankful to have had the extra time. Today they are reunited at the rainbow bridge.”
Country Music Superstar Teamed Up To Establish MuttNation Fund In 2020
In 2020, Lambert partnered with the Waggle Foundation to establish the MuttNation Fund, which helps music industry employees cover their pets’ medical bills amid the pandemic.
What led her to launch this charity? Backup singer Gwen Sebastian, whom you see behind Miranda Lambert in the picture above. Sebastian’s dog Earl fell ill in March with a rare liver disorder as coronavirus infections rose.
“I can’t put into words what a dog’s love does to your heart,” Lambert wrote in an Instagram post announcing Jessi’s death. “But if you have one, you already know. It’s so hard to let them go but the love is worth it.”
