Great news for country fans! Rock the South recently announced a stellar line up of artists for its 2022 concert series. Headlining the show will be Morgan Wallen along with Alabama, Jamey Johnson, Hardy, Koe Wetzel and plenty more.
Organizers announced the line up recently, sharing an Instagram post and how to get tickets.
“You asked, we listened!” the group announced, posting the headlining acts.
The event will take place over two days next year. August 5 and 6 in Cullman, Alabama, you’ll have a chance to see all your favorite artists. In the next few months, organizers will continue to fill out the line up, according to AL.com.
Though the daily schedule for the events haven’t been set, it will be released ahead of the concert for fans to know who to check out.
“Sand in My Boots” Singer as Crowd Favorite
Hitmaker Morgan Wallen is sure to be the favorite. Though he faced some controversy in the last year, the performer is ready to come back stronger than ever. He attended the concert in 2019 after the release of his first album. It seems impossible for the singer/songwriter to create anything but hits. And he’s quickly become a top country artist. He’s been honored with the CMA’s “New Artist of the Year” as well as several Billboard Music awards.
“Morgan Wallen is one of the most highly-acclaimed rising stars in country music, and we are excited to welcome him to Rock The South to join our best lineup to date,” Shane Quick, one of the owners of Rock the South, said via a press release. “He has been our most requested artist in the 11-year history of the festival, and we are excited to give our fans what they have been asking for.”
Further, Wallen’s latest album, “Dangerous: The Double Album,” has sat on the Billboard Hot 100 and 200 in the top spots for more than 40 weeks. It’s safe to say his fans are extremely loyal.
Tickets for Rock the South went on sale today, November 9 and will continue to sell until sold out, organizers also said.
Morgan Wallen’s Fall from Grace
When Morgan Wallen was at the top of his game, he used a racial slur that was caught on video. Though his fanbase stayed devoted, the singer lost a lot. The controversy not only cost him an appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” his career and reputation suffered. He was dropped as a headliner for many upcoming appearances. He also lost his music label for a year to suspension.
The “Cover Me Up” singer penned an apology on to his fans, as well as a video apology. He took the time to educate himself and condemn the slur.
He even made an appearance for an interview with Michael Strahan, in order to clear the air and publicly apologize.
“I was around some of my friends, and we say dumb stuff together. In our minds, it’s playful,” Wallen said. “That sounds ignorant, but that’s really where it came from.”
Since that time, Wallen’s career has continued to rebuild, with him releasing new music. Not everyone was forgiving, but Wallen thanked those that gave him a second chance.
