Rising country star, Morgan Wallen shares how he pierced his ear while on tour with Florida Georgia Line.

Is letting your friend pierce your ear with a guitar string the equivalent of cutting your own bangs? The jury is out as to which results in more crying. At least, Wallen didn’t mention any crying when he shared how he pierced his ear on tour last year. Wallen was touring with Florida Georgia Line and HARDY. It was the last night of the tour and “we were feeling no pain,” says Wallen.

Wallen had been admiring a dangling cross earring on Amazon but hadn’t pulled the trigger. So, his friend and fellow tour mate, HARDY, ordered the earring for him. Instead of going to a professional or even a local mall piercing kiosk, Wallen decided to let his friend pierce his ear. HARDY and Wallen downed a few drinks before HARDY jammed a guitar strong through Wallen’s ear. The dangling cross earring found its home and the rest is history.

Morgan Wallen Has Always Had A Rebellious Streak

From a young age, Wallen has enjoyed pushing boundaries. Wallen says that he believes his rebellious tendencies stem from growing up as a preacher’s son. During an interview, Wallen talks about being expected “to just be the leading example of Christianity.”

“From a child, I was going to do the opposite. I can’t help it. It’s just who I am. Like I’ve got something to prove on my own,” says Wallen.

And it seems to be working out for him. The Country Music Association deemed him Best New Artist in November. Additionally, he recently broke streaming records with his new double-album, Dangerous. The album is the Top Country Album in 62 countries, and the overall top album in the US, Canada, and Australia. Dangerous broke the global first-day streaming record for a country album with the biggest first-day and the biggest first-week country album of all time with Apple Music and Spotify.
