Morgan Wallen Shares Details About His Double Albums
During a January 2021 interview on Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen, Morgan Wallen spoke about what made him decide to create his double albums. “At the beginning of 2020, I probably had about 20 songs that I felt were worthy of being recorded. So I kind of made it a joke to my manager. ‘Hey, let’s just make a double album.’”
Morgan Wallen calmed he was really just joking about the idea. He thought he was going to be on the road all year. “I didn’t think I was actually going to have enough time for that. But whenever the quarantine happen, I, fortunately, was able to write four or five songs right off the bat.”
Along with chatting about the albums, Morgan Wallen discussed his single Sand in My Boots. “I immediately related to [the song] because I had been wanting to get back into my piano playing anyway,” Wallen stated. He also noted that he played the piano a lot when he was younger. “That was one of my first insurance instruments that I learned.”
Wallen further explained that a lot of fans don’t even know that he plays piano. So he wanted to show a different side of him on the album. “And I thought the story was beautiful and I obviously related to it well and put some of my own twists into the song when I got it.”
In regards to his single Wasted on You, Wallen stated that the song was created by him and a couple of his buddies one day during quarantine. “It just came from a pretty, almost like a pissed off place. And just about being wasted. And I think we all can relate to that. We’ve all been through that.”
