The song, which debut in March 2009, was written by Alexander and Jon Mabe and was added to the Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack. It was also included in Cyrus’ The Time of Our Lives as a bonus track.
In 2014, Alexander asked Chris Stapleton and Morgane to assist her in the beautiful cover. She also reportedly released eight other tracks at the same time.
Chris Stapleton released his cover for Nothing Else Matters from Metallica’s The Black Album earlier this month. The cover is part of The Metallica Blacklist, which is a project celebrating the album’s 20th anniversary. According to Stapleton’s website, all proceeds of the song will go to Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation & Outlaw State of Kind.
Chris Stapleton also performed with Derek Mixon on a Zildjian Collaboration, which premiered last Thursday (August 26th). “Having been bandmates for many years, they’ve carried countless musical conversations, and this time, Derek and Chris share their connection in this exclusive Zildjian Collaborations performance.”
Chris Stapleton Opens Up About The Support He Receives From Morgane
During a 2017 interview with Rare Country, Chris Stapleton discusses how his wife Morgane Stapleton keeps him grounded and on his toes. “She’s my Jimmy Cricket in a lot of ways. She’s the voice of reason. Because I’m not always reasonable.”
Chris Stapleton also said he gives Morgane a lot of credit for picking some of the singles from his songwriting catalog. Including Drunkard’s Prayer and Friendship.
“She’s been known to make me change keys on something,” Stapleton recalled. “She’ll be like, ‘Sing higher.’ I’m like, ‘Alright.’ I get lazy on keys sometimes. I’ll key it lower. That way I can sing it lower live.”
Chris Stapleton goes on to explain that his wife knows all his tricks, so it’s hard for her to catch on to whatever he’s doing pretty much all the time. “So, she’s kind of got me down. It’s not really a discussion. It’s just like, ‘I’m singing.’ She’s like, ‘What are you singing? Ok, I got you.’”
Morgane previously stated that Chris never had a blank page and always has some musical idea going on in his head. “It’s always full of half-written … or a line or a melody or a guitar riff or something.”
Chris Stapleton is currently on tour. His next stop is at Bottlerock Napa Valley in Napa, California this week. He is set to continue his tour until the beginning of December. The country singer also has 2022 concert dates already listed on his website. His first stop in 2022 will be at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio with special guests Margo Price and Yola.
