The Oak Ridge Boys are backing out of their scheduled show at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night after one of the band members became sick. The legendary country group shared on social media that the current COVID-19 protocols prohibit them from performing.

The group took to Twitter on Saturday evening to write: “We are sorry to report that we will not be at @opry tonight as planned… One of our guys is not feeling good and in agreement with our Opry Family and under these new Covid 19 protocols we can NOT chance it … The @opry has been front and foremost in following these rules.”

Furthermore, the Oak Ridge Boys tweeted at fellow country stars Jon Pardi and Cam. The group asked them to “carry the load” in their absence. They also made reference to Pardi’s moving tribute to late songwriter Joe Diffie at this past Wednesday’s CMA Awards.

“Our sincere apologies to @camcountry and @JonPardi … looks like you guys may have to carry the load tonight … we KNOW you are capable of doing so … and JON … your performance of PICK UP man on #CMAawards was incredible… Joe Diffie HAD to be smiling … Blessings @opry.”

Cam, known for her smash hit “Burning House,” sounds up to the challenge.

“We got you covered,” she tweeted in response.

While the group is unable to perform at the Opry on Saturday, it remains unclear how their future plans for the December Christmas special at Opryland may be affected.

The Oak Ridge Boys, made up of Joe Bonsall, Duane Allen, William Lee Golden, and Richard Sterban, plan to play a special 29-day Christmas residency at the Gaylord Opryland.

Despite Saturday’s cancellation, the group remains in good spirits. In one subsequent tweet after announcing the change of plans, the group writes: “we have LOADS of FAITH…Gods Got It…and we will all be just fine…Thank You.”
