Old Dominion to Release New Album, ‘Time, Tequila & Therapy,’ on October 8

Old Dominion finally revealed the release date for their highly-anticipated album, Time, Tequila & Therapy.

Just because some of our favorite artists are canceling their remaining tour dates for the year, doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy some new music. Thankfully, the pandemic hasn’t stamped out country music artists’ creativity. In fact, many of them have used the extra time they found during lockdown to create new music.

This was certainly the case for Grammy-nominated country band, Old Dominion. The group just announced the release date for their long-awaited fourth full-length album, Time, Tequila & Therapy. The album will drop on October 8, 2021. During an interview from earlier this year, Matthew Ramsey, Old Dominion’s frontman, talked about how the album came to be. He said that the group decided to try something new during quarantine.

“We definitely saw an opportunity to do something different,” said Ramsey. “Spend some real time on something.”

The group decided to head towards Asheville, North Carolina from their home in Nashville, Tennessee.

“We thought if we went out to Asheville, maybe we would get four or five songs, and that was the goal,” added Ramsey. “And we wound up with a whole album.”

Ramsey said that the time away from Nashville was actually a blessing in disguise.

“We made an album that we definitely couldn’t have made here in Nashville I think, just because… our lives are here and there’s a lot to do,” added Ramsey.

Now fans can enjoy a whole new kind of Old Dominion music. The band has already released two singles from the album including “All I Know About Girls” and “I Was On A Boat That Day.” The latter landed Old Dominion the biggest radio impact of their career.

Upon the song’s debut, 132 radio stations added the song to their rotations. Additionally, “I Was On A Boat That Day” was the second most added song of 2021. Currently, the song has garnered over 20 million streams and counting and 2.2 million views on YouTube.

What Can Fans Expect From Old Dominion’s New Album?

Obviously, fans loved the music Old Dominion released previously. The group even took home the Vocal Group of the Year award at the 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards. This was the group’s fourth consecutive win since 2018. But even frontman Matthew Ramsey said that this latest album will be totally different.

So, what can fans expect from the Time, Tequila & Therapy album? According to a press release for the album, the record presents 13 tracks, “where the boys survey the ups, downs, trials, and tribulations of life, love, and friendships while infusing their signature country sound with songwriting eloquence and arena rock ambition.”
