Sixteen years ago today, the boot-scootin’ boogie duo, Brooks & Dunn, earned themselves a gold album for their work on The Greatest Hits Collection II.
In October of 2004, fans would have much to celebrate after Brooks and Dunn released their second greatest hits compilation album. Before that, fans waited seven years before getting a new compilation album.
In addition, this release marked the second collection of the duo’s most popular hits, which included songs from the 1998 album If You See Her and 2003’s Red Dirt Road. The album also features a song from the 1994 album, Waitin’ on Sundown and one track from 1996’s Borderline, additions that didn’t make it on the band’s first compilation album.
Besides the duo’s favorite hits, they also included original tracks for the album such as “That’s What It’s All About,” “It’s Getting Better All The Time,” and “Independent Trucker.”
Released as singles, “That’s What It’s All About” hit No. 2 on the “Billboard Hot Country Songs” charts, and “It’s Getting Better All The Time” came in at No. 1. The tracks also peaked at No. 38 and No. 56 on the “Hot 100.”
Arista Nashville released their second greatest hits package. Before that, the label also released their eight studio-album, Red Dirt Road in 2003.
Brooks & Dunn Give Fans Three New Hits & Old Favorites
Throughout the ’90s, Brooks & Dunn dominated the country music genre. That momentum would also add to their continued popularity in the early 2000s. After a successful decade, the second compilation album paired with three new songs was the icing on the cake for fans.
Even though the album omits singles like “Beer Thirty” and “You’ll Always Be Loved By Me,” it contains big hits like “Husbands and Wives,” “I Can’t Get Over You,” “Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You” and “Only in America.”
While fans may wish the duo included some of their smaller hits, the compilation of songs provides an accurate, well-thought-out overview of the artistry of Brooks & Dunn. Stream the album here.
