Her song “Wasted” appeared on her debut album, “Some Hearts.” The song was written by Marv Green, Hillary Lindsey, and Troy Verges.
The song would become her fourth No. 1 hit and would also spend three weeks sitting comfortably at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
The song also won the award for Most Performed Song of the Year at the 2007 ASCAP Country Music Awards. Underwood released her debut album after winning “American Idol” in 2005.

But I also liked the idea of using wasted with time … wasting too much of your life. I like to look at words like that. I just thought it would make a striking title.”
The song started with the title and then, eventually, a few chords for the verse. After some jamming, Lindsey had come up with the very first line of the song. From there, lyrics started flowing into place.
