The band’s official Instagram page reminded fans of this popular charity event with a post on Saturday.

“ON THIS DAY in 1993, The CDB performed at @farmaid VI in Ames, Iowa,” the post said. It also included a list of just a few of the other legendary artists and bands that performed at Farm Aid VI in 1993.

According to the post, the artists and bands performing at Farm Aid in 1993 included Merle Haggard, Lyle Lovett, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Ricky Van Shelton, Willie Nelson, Marty Stuart, Martina McBride, Ringo Starr, The Highwaymen, Dwight Yoakam, and more.

Farm Aid Began in 1985

According to the organization’s website, Farm Aid was established in 1985. The driving forces behind the charitable cause were legendary musicians Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and John Mellencamp. Their goal was to “raise awareness about the loss of family farms and to raise funds to keep farm families on the land.” Musician Dave Matthews joined the cause in 2001.

Since its inception, Farm Aid has been successful in achieving its goals. In fact, the organization has taken in $60 million to help farmers.

According to KCCR.com, the 1993 concert took on an even more special cause thanks to a natural disaster that had taken place that same year. That natural disaster was the Flood of ’93. And, in response, Farm Aid began the “Family Farm Disaster Fund” to help those impacted by the floodwaters.
