On This Day: Rascal Flatts Releases 14th No. 1 Single ‘Yours If You Want It’ in 2017

Three years ago today, Rascal Flatts released one of their greatest love songs, “Yours If You Want It.”

The song is about a man offering his heart to a woman. Lyrics include “every bit of love left in this beat up, banged up, scarred up heart…It’s yours if you want it.” The song is the first single from their tenth studio album, Back to Us. Upon its release, “Yours If You Want It” quickly became the group’s fourteenth #1 single on the US Country charts.

There Is A ‘Special Angel’ Watching Over The Rascal Flatts Song

The song was written by Andrew Dorff and Jonathan Singleton. Dorff also wrote Blake Shelton’s “Neon Light, Kenny Chesney’s “Save It For A Rainy Day,” and Hunter Hayes’s “Somebody’s Heartbreak.” The song became even more meaningful as it was Dorff’s last writing credits before passing away at age 40. Jay DeMarcus says that the song was the perfect way to both introduce the band’s new sound and honor Dorff.

“We all felt like ‘Yours If You Want It,’ was the perfect way to introduce our fans and radio to the new music we’ve been making,” says DeMarcus. “We’ve been working really hard and we’re very proud of this track. And what’s more, the late Andrew Dorff is a writer on it. And we are so honored to be a small part of making sure his legacy lives on. We have a special angel watching over it, for sure.”

Most recently, Rascal Flatts released a greatest hits album, Twenty Years of Rascal Flatts. The album consists of 20 of their most well-known songs. The album is part of the group’s farewell. Originally the effort also included a tour. However, that had to be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The album’s songs are chronological so that the first ten songs are hits from their days on Lyric Street Records. The next 10 songs are from their time with Big Machine. The two record labels partnered for the album release.
