On Wednesday (October 23rd), country singer-songwriter, Randy Travis, released the remastered version of the music video for his 35-year-old hit single No Place Like Home.

Officially released on November 24, 1986, No Place Like Home is a song written by Paul Overstreet and recorded by Randy Travis. It is the fourth and final single from Travis’ album Storms of Life. The single scored number 2 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart in March of 1987. It also peaked at number 1 on Canadian RPM Country Tracks and number 24 on Canadian RPM Adult Contemporary Tracks.
The chorus of Randy Travis’ No Place Like Home single reads, “There’s no place like home/ There’s no place like home/ It just hit me/ As I was leaving/ There’s no place like home.”
Randy Travis’ Wife Mary Opens Up About Her Husband’s Country Music Career
During a recent interview with CMT, Randy Travis’ wife Mary shared more details about her husband’s music career through the years, including the country singer recently releases his album Storms of Life.
While chatting about receiving CMT’s Artist of a Lifetime Award, Mary stated, “Randy [Travis] never takes any of his accolades for granted. Being an Artist of a Lifetime means that you’re not just a great artist for a season of an album. Instead, your music has made a difference throughout your entire career. In Randy’s case, 35 years.”
When asked how she and Randy Travis felt about re-release Storms of Life, Mary shared that it brought the thoughts and memories flooding back. “Randy’s such a focused artist in the studio. The beatify of Randy’s music is that he leaves a bit of himself in every song he sings. Because he always puts his heart and soul into it.”
While recalling where she was when she heard Storms of Life the first time, Randy Travis’ wife said she was a flight attending flying for Southwest Airlines. “Whenever I hung out in Dallas, I’d go to Cutter Bill’s bar in Dallas. And all of the two-stepping songs on the album would be playing. The album was the track to many wonderful nights.”
Mary then revealed that Randy Travis actually cut twenty songs for Storms of Life. Ten of the songs actually made it and the other ten were shelved. She also revealed what Kyle Lehning, Randy’s career-long producer, once stated about the country singer. “‘Randy sings songs that people don’t know that they need to hear until they hear it.’ The great songs that any of the great artists sing are songs that make you feel like you’re reading the Bible.”
