Rascal Flatts’ Joe Don Rooney Says Deer Caused Crash in DUI Arrest

Oh, deer, let me explain. Rascal Flatts guitarist J.D Rooney got himself into a bit of trouble after getting caught driving under the influence.

J.D Rooney is now the owner of a DUI charge. In September, Rooney was driving his BMW in Williamson County, Tennessee, around 4 a.m. when he crashed into a tree line, setting off his airbags. Cops arrived on the scene and immediately smelled the booze. Rooney told the officer that he was out playing golf with buddies earlier in the day and drank a few more than he should have. The guitarist was arrested, booked on a misdemeanor DUI charge, and released after posting the $2,500 bond according to TMZ.

Now, Rooney is blaming the wildlife for his accident. According to a police affidavit, Rooney blamed a deer for his September DUI arrest. He says a deer came barreling out in front of him causing him to veer off of the road. Not the many failed field sobriety tests.

Rooney has since remained quiet and has also made his social media pages private. Other members of the band are heartbroken and haven’t spoken to the guitarist.

Levox says, “I think God gets your attention in different ways. I just wish him the best and I hope he gets everything that he needs to get well and take care of whatever issues he’s got going on. There’s power in prayer.”

Gary LeVox Unhappy With Rascal Flatts Ending

J.D Rooney’s arrest came shortly after the country music trio called it quits. Since, Gary LeVox is coming forward with more information as to why the band threw in the towel. Although he notes that it’s remarkable that the band has stayed together for more than 20 years. Jay DeMarcus confesses that a lot of bands can’t look back at their careers and fellow members with love and respect like they can.

Furthermore, singer LeVox says that Rooney quit which sparked the band to break up. She says, “I’ve never been okay with the way that it ended. I wasn’t happy that Rooney quit and I hate the way that it ended.”

Rascal Flatts’ final tour was scheduled for 2020. However, due to unforeseeable circumstances and the COVID-19 pandemic, the dates were later rescheduled and officially canceled.

Shortly before Rooney’s arrest, Rooney and Jay DeMarcus showed up to the ACM honors in Nashville to accept the Cliffie Stone Icon Award. Unfortunately, neither player mentioned the reasoning for LeVox’s disappearance that night.

The “Life is a Highway” singer has since announced the inauguration of his solo career as a Christian musician. His new single “The Distance” is out now and is on his latest album, “One on One.” On October 14th, LeVox began his solo tour in Evansville, Indiana.
