Country star Reba McEntire proudly announced to Instagram followers on Thursday that she will be performing at Macy’s July 4th Fireworks Spectacular.
This year marks Macy’s 45th Independence Day celebration. Because of this past year’s quarantines and social distancing, the theme is “United We Celebrate.”
Last year’s celebration, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, was a compilation of several firework displays. However, this year, Macy’s will host the traditional celebration New York has known for many decades.
Reba McEntire Takes Main Stage
With 35 career No. 1 hits and countless screen and stage performances, Reba McEntire is one of the headliners for this year’s celebration. An Oklahoma native and award-winning vocalist, McEntire has been a well-loved country music star for decades.
Even with her long career, McEntire still records today and recently came out with her song, “Somehow You Do.” Some of Reba McEntire’s past hits include “Fancy” and “Rumor Has It.” In the past, McEntire has performed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn.
In addition to her musical success, McEntire has even made several screen appearances, such as her family-centered sitcom, “Reba.”
Reba McEntire’s 4th of July performance is not the only stage she will be visiting, either. According to Popculture, McEntire recently rescheduled her previously canceled tour for 2022. Originally scheduled to take for 2021, McEntire announced in April that Reba: Live In Concert dates have been revised for early next year.
Biggest 4th of July Celebration Yet
Macy’s official event website reports that headliners Coldplay and One Republic will also be sharing the stage with McEntire. Further, other performances include The United States Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus, Broadway Inspirational Voices and Grammy-winning singer, Tori Kelly.
Along with the vocalists and bands, the Fireworks Spectacular will also feature an original composition, “Hero’s Suite.” As a tribute to everyday heroes, the song celebrates stories of bravery and compassion in American life.
In addition to a variety of headlining artists, an enormous firework display will accompany Reba McEntire’s performance on the 4th of July.
As a result of the stunningly high number of vaccinated New York citizens, Mayor Bill de Blasio stated that this year’s fireworks display will be the biggest yet. According to New York Daily News, 65,000 shells will launch from five barges over the East River.
“They are bringing back the full-scale firework show as we have loved it for decades and decades,” said de Blasio. He added that the s made this year’s impressive celebration possible.
Broadcasted on NBC, viewers can see Reba McEntire and Macy’s Fireworks Spectacular at 8 p.m. CT on the 4th of July with the actual fireworks beginning at 9:25 p.m.
