Ronnie Dunn Praises Morgan Wallen, Calls Him ‘One of the Most Talented Singer-Songwriters in a Long Time’

Country music star Morgan Wallen received high praise from Ronnie Dunn on his SiriusXm’s radio show, Ronnie Dunn’s Road Trip when Dunn called him “one of the most talented singer/songwriters in a long time.”

Country music fans nationwide consider Dunn a modern-day country legend, and praise from the veteran is not given freely. For the frequently quieter half of the duo, Brooks & Dunn, to serve such high praise is rare. “The kid” has some major aptitude as a country artist with such a profound observation coming from the legend himself.

Wallen has had numerous songs reach the top of the charts, including multiple number ones. Dunn had just finished playing “Talkin’ Tennessee” when he shouted out the younger artist.

“Talkin’ Tennessee,” premiered on Wallen’s 2018 album, If I Know Me, and the star still has additional tracks from this album finding the spotlight three years later. Previous examples include “The Way I Talk” (2016), “Up Down” featuring Florida Georgia Line (2017), and “Whiskey Glasses” (2018).

Dunn and Wallen were previously seen together at the younger star’s label, Big Loud. Following this, there was speculation among country music fans about a potential artist collaboration, a treat for country music fans all over.

Seth England, Big Loud Records’ CEO, posted the photo this past May. He captioned it, “Two of the very best singers to ever walk music row…The voice that got me into country music…and the voice that keeps me going.”

Wallen not only has the support and admiration of country legend Ronnie Dunn but also seems to be one of “The Chief” Eric Church’s friends and mentees as well.

Often we are accustomed to country artists working professional collaborations in the studio or on the stage. However, fans went wild on Instagram when Wallen shared a video of the pair simply jamming out to the younger artist’s “Sand In My Boots.” In the background, viewers also spot newcomer country star Hardy and veteran Darius Rucker.

Despite the artist’s young age and unique self-image, he has attracted a highly diverse and talented group of artists. Wallen also makes an appearance on Hardy’s album, Hixtape, on the tracks “He Went To Jared” and “Turn You Down.”

Check out Church and Wallen jamming out to “Sand in My Boots” together here. Intentionally or not, the young star seems to be surrounding himself with all the right country music veterans.

Additionally, his album Dangerous continues to top the charts and break records across genres. He also enjoys taking a break from music to enjoy one of his other passions – fishing. He even brought along his buddy Eric Church, sans hat or sunglasses!
