Rosanne Cash thinks of Dolly Parton the way most of us do.

Cash tweeted Wednesday: “We all need to get in touch with our inner Dolly.”

And Cash retweeted the Dolly Parton photo of the country icon getting her Moderna vaccine for COVID-19 earlier this week. If you haven’t seen the Dolly clip, check it out.

Dolly Parton Got the Shot and Donated $1 million For Vaccine Research

Dolly Parton avoids political discussions. But she does take a stand on issues. The COVID vaccine evolved into a political issue late last year. And in the latest polls, only 41 percent of Republicans said they’d received the vaccine or planned to seek one as soon as possible.

So enter Dolly Parton, the Tennessee native and one of the highest-profile entertainers in the country. Parton donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University Medical Center last year. Moderna, which created one of the three vaccines now available in the United States, worked with Vanderbilt to develop the shot.

Dolly Parton received her vaccine Tuesday. And Dolly did what she does best. She turned it into an event in order to help others. And she also wrote a song about it.

In the video, Parton says: “I’m finally going to get my vaccine, I’m so excited. I’ve been waiting a while. I’m old enough to get it, and I’m smart enough to get it. So I’m very happy that I’m going to get my Moderna shot today.”

Parton received the shot at the Vanderbilt Medical Center.

She then sang a song about the shot to the tune of her classic, Jolene.

“Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine. I’m begging of you please don’t hesitate. Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, cause once you’re dead then that’s a bit too late.”

Followers of Rosanne Cash, the country singer and Johnny Cash’s daughter, loved the Dolly Parton clip. Here’s a sampling of the comments, otherwise known as a Dolly Lovefest:

“What do you get when you combine an alpaca with her concern for people, her generous spirit, her willingness to contribute to the greater good, and her benevolent humility? The Dolly Llama.”

“WWDD What would Dolly do?”

“She’s a national treasure. Her organization @dollyslibrary has distributed over 150 million free books to children.”

“She should be called Dalai Parton, because she is so filled with the light.”

“Somehow Dolly is even able to get a shot with style and class.”

And of course, Dolly Parton’s outfit was planned for the vaccine. She wore a cold-shoulder dress so there was plenty of room for a needle without having to roll up her sleeves. And her vibrant blue mask matched her outfit.

The comments:

“I know, right? And she even wore the appropriate shoulder hole vaccine shirt.”

“OMG! The ultimate vaccine outfit. The cold shoulder top and matching mask. It does not get better. @DollyParton you rock!”
