Shania Twain with Emmylou Harris Is Too Much Talent for One Picture

Some of country’s greatest stars were shining at Country Night in Gstaad, Switzerland, this weekend. The legendary Emmylou Harris was there to headline the 32nd annual event. And Shania Twain caught up with the Beneath Still Waters singer to snap a picture. Twain posted the photo on social media this morning, and we’ll say there is way too much talent showcased in a single picture.

We’re not saying that lightly either. Between the two megastars, there are 20 Grammy Awards. Emmylou Harris has 15, and Shania Twain has 5. On top of that, Harris also took home a Country Music Hall of Fame Commemorative Medallion in 2008. And Twain earned a star on the walk of fame in 2011.

Shania posted her picture on Instagram, and she had stars in her eyes—and for good reason. Emmylou Harris helped pave the way for women in the country music industry.

“Just a photo of me and the real deal!” Twain captioned. “Emmylou is one of my heroes. An inspirational songwriter and guitar player and gorgeous inside and out. I’m so happy to be experiencing live music again especially when it’s this woman!”

Shania Twain Speaks Out About Being Called ‘America’s Best Paid Lap Dancer’

You’d think Shania Twain—the 26th best-selling artist of all time—would get some respect in the music industry. But despite the fact that every single record she ever released went platinum and five of them went diamond, Twain still faced a lot of criticism during her career.

For some reason, people just couldn’t get over the That Don’t Impress Me Much singer’s looks. And trolls dubbed her “America’s Best Paid Lap Dancer.” She’s definitely beautiful, but how could anyone overlook her singing chops?

“I was criticized as an artist. I’m surprised I ever had any hits actually when I read them now,” she said in an episode of her Home Now podcast. ” So for example, part of the quote from one of my reviews was: ‘She’s America’s best-paid lap dancer in Nashville. She’s hot, but can she sing? Is Shania just a flash in the pan? The most famous midriff in Nashville.’ So yeah, I ended up having hits anyway. Very satisfying.”

For some reason, Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under received the harshest criticism. That single ended up winning her Song of The Year and was certified gold.

“And what I just quoted were all quotes based on that first single from the Woman In Me album,” she continued. “I wrote the song. And I was a little bit hurt, I guess, at the harsh critics, not focusing on the music. And the fans just wiped all of that hurt away and made the song one of my biggest hits. Thank you, fans.”
