Shania Twain Rocks Out on TikTok

The video starts just when the song starts. As country music fans around the world know, “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” has one of the most iconic and recognizable intros. It starts with Twain saying, “Let’s go girls!”

Fans of Shania Twain on TikTok were floored by the video appearing on their For You page. Some are sharing their favorite memories of Twain over the years. In fact, one fan said she has Twain to thank for her name. “I was named after you … my mom saw your name flash on the screen in 1996 and knew that was the name for me!”

Shania Twain has been influencing women for years, especially with her feel-good, fierce, sassy, and empowering tunes. One commenter wrote, “Shania sprinted so Taylor could walk.” This is referencing Taylor Swift, who is close behind Twain’s record for the best-selling female album ever title. Twain’s album, “Come on Over” currently has that record.

Yesterday, Shania Twain shared a personalized playlist for her fans to listen to in honor of Women’s History Month. It features six of her most popular songs.

Last year both Taylor Swift and Shania Twain were amongst many other artists to share playlists for International Women’s Day. Taylor Swift’s playlist had music from artists like Grimes, Charlie XCX, and Selena Gomez. Meanwhile, Twain gave a shoutout to all the women in country music. This includes newer female artists like Kelsea Ballerini and Kacey Musgraves.

Today the internet is full of playlist recommendations from different sites featuring diverse artists from Beyoncé to Lady Gaga to Aretha Franklin to Amy Winehouse to Lizzo to Madonna to Gwen Stefani to the Spice Girls. Music is a great way to celebrate all the amazing women around the world.

Celebrating Shania Twain’s Success

Shania Twain remains one of the most successful and influential artists in music. While she began as a country artist, she also appeals to country-pop and pop audiences.

According to Taste of Country, on November 17, 1997, her album “The Woman in Me” earned diamond certification. It also made her the first female country artist to sell over 10 million copies of a record. In fact, she is the best-selling female artist in country music history.

During her career, she has earned five Grammy Awards and 27 BMI Songwriter Awards, amongst many other awards and accomplishments.

The song “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” has long been a feminist bop. She has spent her career advocating for female empowerment and equal rights through her lyricism and her spoken word.

“I never felt it was right to ask me to downplay my femininity just to be respected for my art. I resented that and I thought, ‘No, in fact, I’m going to make my very first video braless—because I’m a woman, and I don’t feel like I need to strap myself down anymore, which is what I always did when I was in high school,” Twain said in a “Good Morning America” interview.
