Shania Twain shared gorgeous throwback photos from her “Any Man of Mine” music video. And now we’re grabbing our cowboy boots and getting our #girlsquad together.

“Any Man of Mine” is one of country music superstar Shania Twain’s most iconic hits. Undoubtedly, the song is an anthem for both single and coupled women everywhere. During the song, Shania sings about what she will and won’t accept from her man. Spoiler alert: She’s accepting nothin’ but the best!

During the song, Shania sings “Any man of mine better walk the line. Better show me a teasin, squeezing, pleasin kinda time. I need a man who knows, how the story goes. He’s gotta be a heartbeatin, fine treatin, breathtaking, earthquakin kind. Any man of mine.” The song spent 20 weeks on the chart and peaked in the number one spot.

And it fuels our souls to see that, even after two decades since the song debuted, Shania Twain still knows what will and won’t fly in her dating world. Shania posted photos from her original music video for the song. Along with the gorgeous photos, Shania Twain wrote, “And I can be late for a date that’s fine, but…?”

Fans quickly filled in the rest of the sentence commenting, “But he’d better be on time.”

Shania Twain Bought All Her Own Clothes for the “Any Man Of Mine” Music Video

So, you know how Shania Twain’s little white tank top and cut-off denim vest look in the “Any Man of Mine” music video is absolutely iconic? Well, she didn’t have a team of makeup artists and costume designers to curate that for her. In fact, she was pretty much on her own when it came to her wardrobe for the video. Production gave her a very strict budget and Shania ran with it. She bought all the clothes herself and just chose items that made her feel like the country queen she is. Knowing this just makes us love the song even more! During a behind-the-scenes video, Shania Twain revealed never-before-known details about her music video for “Any Man Of Mine.”

“I was the fashion designer for this video…and it kind of looks like it,” joked Twain. “But at the same time, it looks kind of cool. I was feeling kind of sexy, I must say.”

Before the day of the shoot, Shania went for a (budget friendly) shopping spree and picked up a few key items.

“The brown slip dress, the denim vest, the jeans, right down to the belt, everything was department store shopping – keeping the budget down,” said Twain. “It was fun to me.”

The only things that she didn’t buy were the chaps and cowboy hat she wears in the video. Those actually belonged to the music video director, John Derek.

After an On-Set Argument Shania Thought the Music Video Was Over

Speaking of John Derek, Shania also revealed that she got into a huge argument with him while shooting the video. In fact, for a few minutes, she thought he might walk off set and she wouldn’t have a video for the song.

“I remember we had a big argument during the making of the video because he had his own ideas but so did I…I had a vision about how I wanted to look and how I wanted to present myself,” said Twain. “So we were nose to nose at one point arguing about this and I just said – I was using bad language – but I basically said, ‘You’re not the boss of me.’”

Luckily, the argument actually led to mutual respect and shooting for the video continued.

“And he respected me a lot more than I expected and we had a wonderful friendship after that,” said Twain laughing. “I learned a lot about myself. I gained confidence, discipline. It’s really wonderful watching it back after all these years.”
