Rising country music star Taylor Dee has died in a car accident at age 33. The singer reportedly slammed her Chevy Trailblazer truck into a highway barrier outside Dallas after she missed an exit.

Dee leaves behind two young children: her son, Vayden, and her daughter, River.

According to the Daily Mail, authorities reportedly think alcohol may have contributed to the accident. Toxicology reports have yet to emerge.

Dee was apparently leaving a friend’s house in Little Elm, near Grapevine, and driving eastbound on State Highway 183 in Euless around 10:30 p.m. on March 14. She missed the exit to Highway 360 by seconds and hit the highway barrier instead.

When the truck hit the barrier, the vehicle flipped onto its side and collided with an overhead sign. The force of the collision threw Dee from the truck. She was not wearing a seat belt.

The male passenger next to her, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a broken toe in the accident. He was released from the hospital shortly after arriving there.

Taylor Dee Was an Ascendant Country Star

Dee’s first single, “The Buzz,” dropped in June of 2019 and made it onto multiple Texas radio stations.

“Taylor Dee was the real deal – a true talent with a heart and passion not only for her music but for people,” Texas Country Music Association President Linda Wilson told KULR-TV. “She will be missed tremendously.”

Friends compared Dee’s voice to the late Janis Joplin’s and said she loved music, according to KULR-TV.

Nashville songwriter Chad Roland mourned the country music community’s loss.

“I first met Taylor in October 2018 but it felt as if we knew each other many lifetimes,” he said, per the Daily Mail. “Since then we have played music, laughed, shared stories and a few secrets, wrote, cried, toured, prayed and fought.”

“Needless to say we were close,” he added. “We genuinely loved each other, and we hoped that love spilled into the music. Truly the music world has no idea what kind of loss they have suffered.”
